Christian mother and singer-songwriter Hannah Harper broke streaming records on American Idol with her tear-jerking song, “String Cheese.”

The song follows the day-to-day life of a mother, but from a Christian perspective as a vocation.

During her audition, the mother of three said she suffered from postpartum depression after her youngest son was born. Amid the chaos of daily motherly duties, she realized she considers her state in life a gift from God.

Harper said she believes motherhood is “the biggest ministry she will ever have.”

Listen to Hannah Harper’s country song, “String Cheese,” on American Idol below:

Here are some lyrics from “String Cheese“:

Some days I wanna cry, run away and hide
But I worry about their every need
When I’m ovеrwhelmed and touched out
Thеy come climbin’ up on the couch
Sayin’, “Mama, can you open my string cheese?”
And I smile because I know meeting their needs fills my soul
And being their mama is who I’m meant to be.”

Harper, a Missouri native and mother of three, brought Grammy-Award winning singer and former American Idol Carrie Underood to tears, along with millions of other mothers who heard her song.

While the song went viral over a month ago, it’s broken records with millions of streams. The show says it’s one of their most popular streaming songs of all time.

Harper announced her song hit number 14 on the country music charts in February.

Harper will compete again on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Hawaii. 30 contestants are left in the competition.

Let us pray a Hail Mary together for all mothers:

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us, sinners,
Now and at the hour of death, Amen.
