Here’s the clip of Raymond Arroyo’s interview with Jim Caviezel below:
In this viral clip shared on Hollywood Catholic’s Instagram page, Arroyo first asks, “What did you learn when it was done that you didn’t know before?”
“He was with me when I was on the Cross,” Caviezel says, referring to Jesus Christ. “He said, am I too close?’ I said, ‘You’re not close enough.’
“And I cried when I said that,” Caviezel explains. “And I was blue. My body was blue. You watch that movie – there’s nothing [fake] about that. I was…blue. The pain was excruciating.”
“We were so cold. They would take you down off the cross. I was going in this cave and they had a heater and the wind was just blowing, and they couldn’t keep me warm enough,” Caviezel described of his experience.
“From lack of sleep, is when the infection started in my lungs. Then I had double pneumonia. I was on antibiotics the whole time. The last shot of the movie, I got ripped right in half from that lightening bolt. Then two heart surgeries later…”
Caviezel then tells Arroyo that the lightening strike and hypothermia contributed to his current heart problems.
“I was AFib when I was on the cross. The doctor put the stethoscope on my heart and he turned to Mel and he said, ‘he could die.’”
Caviezel then reveals he had two heart surgeries, one of which was a full open-heart surgery.
“I came out of surgery, and you’ve got all these tubes in your throat and everything, and all of a sudden, boom. It’s like someone took an egg and cracked it on the lower right side–I died right there. My heart shut off. The doctors ran into the room and I watched them.”
