The best of humanity always lifts the spirit of everyone. Competition and good sportsmanship are a great example.
But this year’s Copa America was beautifully framed with the words of Jesus and a heartfelt prayer for peace.
Copa America was framed by Paraguayan evangelical pastor Emilio Aguero Esgaib and his prayer:
“We want to always thank God for the life, opportunities, protection, and peace He provides”
One wonders how many of the players remembered their faith and childhoods when the pastor also said, “Christ’s message is still valid today and He called us to peace, understanding, and forgiveness. He also told us to believe, because the one who believes, everything is possible. These words encourage us not to be discouraged, to believe big, and believe that everything can be done.”
The Pastor also put on full display the faith of the players to believe they could excel in sports and excel in their faith in God. There they stood, hard-working athletes and handmade creations of God, living the promise God offers us all.

How users reacted to the Copa America 2024 Opening Prayer
Many people expressed their gratitude for the opening prayer at this year’s Copa America.
“Appreciate. Praise The Lord Jesus Christ,” an Instagram user said.
Another user said the prayer was “Great!” and a “perfect example for FIFA to think about…because JESUS IS LORD over all.”
Others said, “Jesus is the king,” that “this should be normal,” and “Copa America is Blessed.”
